Singapore
Half-tiger, half-fish, this is the merlion, symbol of Singapore!
We went twice to Singapore, staying 3-4 days each time. Our first stay was the best as we were surprised by this city with its high buildings but also by the diversity of its architecture, activities and cultures. Here are a few pictures to show you what the city looks like:
Chinatown, that's where our hostel was.
Little India
Like in Malaysia, tolerance towards all the different kinds of religions, langages and customs is very important. Here live together English-speaking, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian people and other expats.
We love the Chinese influence which is the most present in the city, especially its food:
Yummy, ice cream sandwich!
This is how everyone should (not) eat soup! ;)
We had the occasion to practice ou meditation skill some more in SG as we went every morning and evening to the Buddha tooth relique temple. There was a very comfortable meditation room on the 4th floor and it was a pleasure to go there for an hour each time! (Now we're sure everybody thinks we're nuts! :P)
We "visited" a shopping mall ("to visit" seems the best verb to use here...). It was gigantic and very unique, there was a canal with some gondolas and a synthetic ice rink! There's also the famous Marina Bay Sands resort beside it, you cannot miss it, it has a big boat on the top of the buildings!
Crazy singaporians! :)
Each one has its own technic! ;)
The city tries to make nature and buildings get along as much as possible. We could see a big tropical garden in the heart of the city... with trees made out of concrete and metal! :)
It looks like the Pandora planet in the movie Avatar, doesn't it?
We also did something different from the usual travelling, we went for a day to the Universal Studios theme park. Aurore pissed herself on all the roller-coasters: Transformers, Jurassic Park, The Mummy, Battlestar Galactica... But at the end, she was asking for more and did all the attractions twice! We also went to Sentosa island where you can find beaches and some more attractions to unwind and have fun!
Shrek, Fiona and Donkey!
We went to Barcelona to see the Guell Park..................... HA HA got you :D A copy of Venice wasn't enough so Singapore also has a copy of Barcelona!
There's a lot to do in Singapore... if you can pay! Everything has a price here and it's often quite expensive, so you must plan ahead your activities if you want to enjoy your stay in the city-state of the merlion! Aurore would see herself living here, even if she came back to reality a little bit after our second stay here: she noticed the individualistic behaviour of its inhabitants compared to the other countries we saw in Asia. But she still keeps this as an option for later... She will still have to convince Etienne though as he wasn't impressed as much... To be continued ;)
